There are 12 notes in an Octave, they are:
Sa – Sudha
Re – Komal
Re – Sudha
Ga – Komal
Ga – Sudha
Ma – Sudha
Ma – Tevr
Pa – Sudha
Dha – Komal
Dha – Sudha
Ni – Komal
Ni – Sudha
There are 4 Komal Notes and one Tevr Note.
There are five elements.
So a Thaat or a Raga that contains any one Komal tune
corresponds to Earth Element. Since this is the lower astral element so any one
komal note can bring in the balance in the earth element.
For eg: Raag Shivaranjni that has Ga Komal. But it should
have either Re Komal or Ga Komal , since it is related to lower astral element.
For Water element Re and Ga, both should be komal, to solve
this.
For eg: Raag
Komal tune is refered as comma, so Re, = Re Komal. And Tvr
as ^, so Ma Tevr = Ma^.
